School of Nursing & Midwifery

About Us

Established in 1968 as the Higher School of Nursing in Ahvaz, the School of Nursing and Midwifery of Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences (AJUMS) began with 20 female students in a three-year program that awarded a degree equivalent to a bachelor's. From 1982 to 1986, a shift towards associate degree training occurred to address the urgent need for healthcare professionals. In 1986, a significant union with the Ministry of Health’s nursing school established the School of Nursing and Midwifery at AJUMS, initiating a comprehensive curriculum in Nursing, Midwifery, and Operating Room Technology.

The institution has continuously advanced its educational offerings, introducing non-continuous bachelor’s degrees in nursing in 1993 and expanding the midwifery program in 2015. Since 2008, the Bachelor of Surgical Technology has been included, and postgraduate programs now feature specialized master’s and doctoral degrees in nursing and midwifery. The addition of pre-hospital emergency training in 2022 underscores a commitment to evolving healthcare education.

The campus, spanning 7500 square meters, includes 18 classrooms, a 500‑square‑meter clinical skills center, a 400‑square‑meter library, a computer lab, and dedicated spaces for doctoral students. These facilities are designed to provide an exceptional educational environment, fostering the success of students in the healthcare field.
