Nursing Care Research Center in Chronic Diseases (NCRCCD)
Introduction
The Nursing Care Research Center for Chronic Diseases at Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences (AJUMS) is a nationally recognized institution committed to advancing the science and practice of chronic disease care. Established in 2012, the center was founded in response to the growing burden of chronic illnesses—such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic kidney disease—among the population in southwest Iran and beyond.
As the health needs of communities evolve, the center plays a vital role in translating research findings into practical, evidence-based nursing interventions that promote health, prevent complications, and improve patient outcomes. The center emphasizes the integration of standardized, patient-centered, and culturally sensitive care protocols rooted in the latest scientific evidence.
A core mission of the center is to empower nurses with knowledge, skills, and research-based strategies that can enhance self-care, treatment adherence, and quality of life for patients and their families. Recognizing the pivotal role of academic institutions in addressing public health challenges, AJUMS initiated the creation of this specialized research hub as part of its broader mission to lead health innovations in the region.
The center collaborates closely with national and international research institutions, facilitates interdisciplinary studies, and supports capacity-building programs for researchers and practitioners in the field of chronic care.
