About the School

The School of Allied Health Sciences was founded in 1972 with the integration of the departments of Laboratory Sciences, Radiology, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Initially named the School of Hospital Sciences, it was later rebranded as the School of Medical Technology, before ultimately adopting its current title.

Over the years, the school expanded its academic offerings with the addition of several key departments. This expansion included the Department of Nutrition (1974), the Department of Public Health (1976), the Department of Biomedical Engineering (1977), and the Departments of Anesthesia and Physiotherapy (1984).

Today, the School of Allied Health Sciences offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines. These include Nutrition, Laboratory Sciences, Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences, Anesthesia Technology and Education, Health Information Technology, and Medical Informatics.
