Department Information

History:

The Department of Health Education and Promotion integrated into the Public Health Department of the Faculty of Health in September 2011. After the partial accreditation following the visit of the specialized board and the completion of the academic staff, it started working as a separate department in the Faculty of Health in June 2015. The first course for Master's students in Health Education began in September 2013 and so far, 14 courses accepted. Currently, the health education and promotion.

Health Education and Health Promotion (MSc)

Program Description:

Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to identify the determinants of health and designing, implementation and evaluating health-related program. They help in enabling all people to improve their health.
Health Education and Health Promotion construct opportunities for learning some form of communication designed to improve health literacy, improving knowledge, and developing life skills which are conducive to individual and community health. Health education is not only concerned with the communication of information, but also with fostering motivation and skills necessary to improve health.

The course is intended to achieve the following goals:

  • Designing, managing and promoting health improvement programs
  • Raising awareness of good health, diet and exercise through training and workshops
  • Changing the behaviors of individual or social groups
  • Improving quality of life for people in the community

Admission Requirements:

  • Having a bachelor's degree (BSc) in health education and health promotion
  • Meeting admission criteria based on regulations of universities
  • Being eligible for entering the program

Expected Competencies at the End of the Program:

  • Developing a logical plan for health education and promotion program
  • Conducting health Needs Assessment and Prioritization
  • Making behavioral changes to improve health
  • Communicating and advocating effectively for health education and health promotion
  • Determining the evaluation criteria and resource
  • Participating individuals and organizations for health promotion
