The Information Collection Form for All Departments and Majors of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences

Title of the Department:

Vector Biology and Control of Diseases

Introduction to the Department:

Given that more than 60% of diseases in tropical and subtropical regions are transmitted by arthropods, attention to understanding diseases and their prevention and control is of particular priority.

Vector biology and control of diseases is a field focused on understanding the biology of disease-transmitting vectors (primarily arthropods like mosquitoes and ticks) and developing strategies to control them, thereby preventing the spread of vector-borne diseases.

The mission of this course is to train personnel who are knowledgeable about current scientific and practical issues, capable, responsible, and sensitive to the health of individuals and society in the field of identifying disease vectors, their ecology, and biology. Graduates can teach and conduct research in higher education institutions and research centers. They can also improve community health by developing and implementing control programs and monitoring disease vectors in various health and treatment centers.
