Hyperlipidemia Research Center
The Hyperlipidemia Research Center, affiliated with Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, was established in 2012 with the founding membership of six faculty members from the university. The center is the first and only center with this name in Iran that works in the field of diseases related to dyslipidemia, including fatty liver, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. The center aims to advance scientific research in the field of lipid disorders. Its main research focus includes molecular, biochemical, and genetic investigations of dyslipidemia in diseases such as fatty liver, diabetes, and atherosclerosis.
The main research lines of the center are included
- Metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD),
- Atherosclerosis and various types of dyslipidemia
- Inherited metabolic disorders in neonates related to dyslipidemia.
Additionally, one of the major research priorities of the center is the study of genetic basis of dyslipidemia across different ethnic groups in Ahvaz population
